Students in 7th and 8th grade will participate in the art classroom for one full marking period during the school year. Students will explore various media including drawing, painting, printmaking, and ceramics. The instruction will focus on student choice. Additionally, art history, art criticism, and art aesthetics will be used to develop, explore, and analyze the process of art making and completed artwork. Students will be encouraged to develop an individual art vocabulary that promotes creative self expression, critical thinking, and decision making.
